I Need Some New Shoes
 

I am looking at the Toyo Open Country M/T, A/T, Nitto Terra Grappler, and Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ in a 35x12.50x16 or 17. I also have a couple of rims in mind in a Mickey Thompson Classic II in a 16x10 4-7/16" backspace, Classic Lock in a 16x10 4-1/4" backspace, Classic II or Classic Lock in a 17x9 5" backspace, or 17x8 3rd gen wheels 6-1/4" backspace. I currently have the 17x8.5 5-1/2" backspace H2 wheels with 35x12.5x17 Pro Comp X Terrains, and Skyjacker control arms. No rubbing anywhere at all. I do not want to create a rubbing situation. A buddy of mine just put on 315/75/16 Open Country M/T's with the 16x10 Classic II's, and they rubbed pretty bad. What is my best option for a quiet, long wearing set of tires on a wheel that won't cause rubbing issues?http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/im...es/yourock.gif

First i started off with the mud grapplers they hummed like a son of a bitch so i decided to go with the toyo M/t's they humm just a little but not enough that it would bother you mine were 37x12.50x20 and they were the best tires i encountered in awhile.....ALOT better than the grpplers. i didnt get many miles on the grapplers before they were BALD and i dont hot rod or anything but the toyo M/t's are still running on the truck that i sold last summer

Unless your lookin for a heavy off road lug here's the tires your lookin for. They aren't cheap but they are a commercial tire that will out wear any regular tire out there, make no noise goin down the road and treated me great on this old farm truck in the snow and mud. Only reason I changed was cause i went to the 19.5 inch wheels.

Toyo Tires - M-55™

The M-55 sounds like a good choice if they made it in a 35x12.5. What about the sizes and backspacing I listed? See any potential rubbing issues? Will a 325/70/17 fit without rubbing?

You'll finf that most 35's are only 34 inches in diameter and the toyos are like the same thing. Toyo's run bigger diameter the most other brands of the same size.

How about 35x12.5x17 Open country M/T on 17x9 Classic Locks with a 5" backspace? I do not figure there will be any rubbing. My X-Terrains were very close to the actual dimensions of the Toyos. The H2's are 8.5" wide with a 5.5" backspace, and I am ar from rubbing anything. Is anyone running this combo, and do you have pics?

If you don't mind the mud terrain look, I would vote for the Open Country MT's over the M-55's for three reasons.

1) They cost pretty much the same and the noise level is pretty much the same.

2) MT's give better traction overall than M-55's.

3) MT's wear as well as M-55's.


Don't get me wrong the M-55's are a great tire, and I swore by them--as did most everyone else up here running in the woods, construction, logging, etc--for years.

My dad's pickups (all four of them) are shod with M-55's and they're great, but many up here have realized the MT's wear just as long on the black rock roads and heavy use, plus have the added benefit of better traction in the slop without the noise.....plus M-55's aren't exactly quiet anyhow.

MT's are a great tire, and I'm a diehard M-55 fan....MT's are going on my Super Duty next.

I am glad to hear that the M/T's wear as well as the M-55. I have always heard that the M-55's wear really well.

Toyo Open County's A/T are awesome... 275/65/18 equal 32 or 33, I can not remember right now... But their site has a conversion chart. These tires have great traction in the mud, snow, sand and water. I have had Toyo's on my last 3 vehicles and would not run anything else... :U:
