M/T Baja MTZ

Well I'm looking for a new set of tires, 315/75R16 for the 97, since the BFG's are getting low on tread, and winter is right around the corner, and most of all because I'm having trouble getting in and out of my job sites.

So, I'm looking at a few sets. The Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ looks pretty good, for about $950 shipped, and while it is a load range D, its got plenty of load capacity for what I do with the truck 98% of the time. I know all you guys are gonna tell me to go with the Toyo MT's, but I'm looking for opinions on the M/T's.

The other ones I was looking at were the Hankook MT's, the Cooper STT's, and the Maxxis Bighorn M/T's. All of them are load range D's. Not as bad as when I bought the 99 and it had load range C passenger car tires.

for an aggressive tire , and great millage , look at the Firestone Destination , ive seen remarkable wearing characteristics on a 2nd gen dodge , 2004 PSD , and a 3rd gen dodge

I have a set of MTZ's and I love them. They are quiet for an aggressive tire. Wear great too.:U:

Thanks DM, I looked at those Firestones since you mentioned them, but I can't find them in a 315.

How about the Yokohama M/T+? They look pretty aggressive, and I love that tread pattern, but how well do they hold up.

D+D, thanks for the heads up on those MTZ's, they might just be what I end up with.

What about BFG MT or is that what you have? I agree MTZ are a good tire and I heard they are real good in the snow.

Well I got a set of X-Terrains for about half the price of what they should go for... Just gotta get the leveling kit and the new control arm bushings in before I get them mounted. I'm hoping they do alright in the snow, Buffalo gets enough of it... I wonder if they could be studded, or at least siped.

carefull they wear fast

I have had pretty good luck with x-terrains:U:

I guess if you rotate them every 3-5K miles they last a bit longer. If I can get 25K good miles out of them (I usually have to replace them with some tread left, otherwise I can't get in and out of jobsites), I'll be happy. I'm thinking these will work better than the X A/T's, just because I know I'm not gonna get stuck half way down a trail with these things.

It doesn't look like you can sipe those at least the right way.
