Dana 60 Front Bearing Spacer

I have been searching for the spacer, part number 4746812, that is put behind the front hub assembly. I am not sure why it is there, but I have been unable to find this part. Anyone have a source for these spacers? They must have a reason for being there, so why so difficult to find. Any help would be appreciated.
Chuck

I was fortunate to have found a Chrysler dealership that had one. From there I was off to the machine shop and had more made. I have become my own parts supplier.

I realize that this is an old thread and a long shot, but do you happen to remember the thickness of this spacer? Any chance that you had extra ones made that you'd be willing to sell? As you already know, they've become unobtainium. One of the last 2 shops that worked on it, decided that the spacers along with the brake dust shields weren't required. Currently have the front end apart. I have the dust shields but not the spacers. If the spacers are the same thickness as the dust shields, I guess I could cut up and sacrifice a pair of dust shields. Any one figure out what purpose the spacers serve? My line of thinking is the same as yours, the manufacturer isn't going to go to the trouble of adding cost and time to the manufacture of a vehicle without a valid reason.

I measured the thickness and it is .045in thick. I'm guessing that there are none on your vehicle. The only thing I figure that they are there along with the dust shield, is to center the rotor in the caliper. With that, it also moves the tire just a little further outward. Auto makers don't put parts on their vehicle for no reason. I only have two and these are my spares. Thanks.

Hi Chucks:

Thanks for your speedy reply. You're right, there are none currently on the vehicle, so I have nothing to go on. Apparently, one of the last shops that worked on it , decided it wasn't necessary or probably forgot to put them back on. I guess it's time to grab a mic. and start looking for stock. Thanks for taking the time to check the thickness, now I have something to go on.
