Traction Bar Length.....

i am going to make a set of bars. what is a good length for all around use.. street , drag , pullin , towing....????

longer the better right?

No, and in fact with most cases you want them shorter. The longer the bar the more flex it has but the object is to keep the wheel arc the same as stock so you want a bar long enough that there is no binding in a full range of motion but short enough that it actually transmits the power to the ground.

Here is a link that gives a really good explanation as to how traction bars work with your rear geometry.

If you all will indulge me here makin the ultimate sin of cuttin on somebody elses thread, hate to start another since there is a few goin on already on the same topic.

I'm lookin at this project and wondering what the thoughts are on building these bars so that they attach around the axle on one end and using a longer bolt on the leaf spring mount to mount the front of them to. Just put a barrel over the threads so that they don't buggar up and use a heim joint over the barrel. Good, Bad or just no way in hell.
