what size tires!?
Hi all I am currently looking into getting some tires and wheels for my truck. My problem is that I have no clu what size tires fit on what size rims. I'm looking into some 17x9 wheels and 16x10's. For the tire size I'm looking for a 33"-35". I have no clue what the size would be in the metric format though. For example lets say we're looking at a 305x70x17. I know that 305 would be the height but i have no idea what this compares to in inches. I know that 17 is the diameter of the wheel in inches. Mostly what I'm lost on is the middle number, 70, i think that this is the width but how do find out what this number means in inches? If sombody could help me out or leave me a link to a chart it would be really helpful. Thanks everyone.

305 is the width of tire in mm. 70 is the side wall height. a 305/70/17 comes out to be just under 33 ins tall and 12 ins wide. some with more knowlegde then me can give you a exact measurement and explain it a little better
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- heres a site ive used before to compare sizes and converts from mm to in. 1010tires.com go to the tire size calculator |
Thats right 305/70-17 would be 305 mm's sidewall to sidewall, 70 is the profile in % so from the rim to the ground would be 70% of 305 mm's, 17 is the rim size. There are online tire calculator guides to simplify it, where you just put in a tire size and it will tell you width and diameter in inches if you just google tire calculator. Hope this helps. :c:

so what would be the profile for a 16x10 and a 17x9 wheel?
|
Wheels don't have profiles :nope:
|
yeah i know that but if i wanted to put a 305 on a 17x9 rim then i would get a 305x??x17 tire
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- ok i think i have it figured out now. just takes some math and some conversions |
