How to launch?
 

I have a 96 dodge dually 2wd. The problem i've been having launching is i spin pretty bad through 3rd gear. I'm going to start building traction bars in my welding class on thursday. I have a big back bumper and it helped out a little bit. I don't really know what else to do to keep it hooked to the track. I was wondering if ya'll would have any ideas.

Here are a few things you can try.
1. Add some weight behind the rear axle. The farther behind the rear axle, the better your leverage wil be and the less weight you'll need to use. Ballast tubes are easy to make, mount and remove, so you don't lose the use of the bed. They are also adjustable for weight. PM me if you would like more info on how to make them.

2. Swap the duals out for a wide single rear wheel setup for the track. Contact patch will be larger and contact pressure will be better.

3. Try some softer compound tires.

4. Play with the air pressure in your rear tires. Less air pressure will help the tires stick, but it will also slow your measured reaction times to some extent. Keep in mind that going too low can cause the tires to spin on the rim.. (not good)

5. Change the front shocks to some valved more toward the compression side such as a 90/10 shock (90percent compression valving/10 percent rebound valving) This will allow the front suspension to unload quicker which will in turn aid in weight transfer to the rear.
(note: 90/10 shocks will ride worse than a dumptruck on the street)

Some of my ideas may or may not be feasible for a street driven truck, but they will get you pointed in the right direction. Traction bars will help keep your rear end planted, and depending on how you build them, can be tuned to add some preload to the rear suspension, which will also help with your reaction times.
Last but not least, invest in a set of slicks with a wide single rear wheel setup.
