Both a J-Frame and a bersa Thunder are to big for myspecific reason to want a LCP. I've shot a LCP and while not "comfortable" for it use it shoots fine. They both are great guns and a .357 mag another I need to round out the colection. Want a 6" model though.

I carry a 1911, 8 rd mag, Winchester pdx1 230 gr .45 ACP+P JHP. itll put something down if it needs too. :choochoo: For the home, 12ga loaded with 3 in 00 buck 18 pellet :choochoo:

I really like the LCP because its small if someone wants my wallet I can reach in my back pocket and pop enough off to make them rethink their actions, I'm not sure as to the stopping power but I don't like to have a 1911 hanging off my hip everywhere I go, I really like the Taurus Judge but I will never own another taurus since one of their .38s exploded in my dads hands

yeah the 1911 is pretty big but im not exactly a small frame, i grew up with large frame autos so for me, i hardly notice its there and ive got a good holster and i can carry concealed without anyone noticing

The J frame kicks like SOB with 38spl +P's it's extremly uncomfortable to shoot...in 357...it's not only down right painful, it's hard to shoot with any accuracy...and is just not a caliber you want in that sized of a handgun...
As far as the Bersa...meh....much better options....the LCP...it's small, give it that, but again not easy to shoot.. Now Kimber has a new pistol out...the Kimber Solo....it's still to small for me or the wife, but it's a viable pistol...and does not feel to bad....but it left tracks on the web of my hand...however, it's designed and backed by the Kimber name & company...and best of all it's chambered in 9mm.... |

They have a great reputation for reliable and devastating performance and even the local PD carry them in their .40 S&W Sigs. That is, until a very unfortunate incident a few months ago during a home invasion at my house. This slime-fuck busted the window in my front door and unlocked it from the inside to get in. My wife never heard it and was unaware anything was going on till he rushed her. She ran to the bedroom and was able to retrieve her Charter Arms .38 revolver (loaded with 125 grain +P Gold Dots) before he wrapped her up from behind with her arms to her sides. She got 4 rounds off. 2 while he had her wrapped up and 2 more when he dropped her. Unfortunately, the 2nd round she fired while she was struggling with him hit her in the mid-thigh area and exited by her knee. One bullet was found in the back yard after passing through the bedroom wall and the wall of the back porch. The other 2 left with the asshole, who was arrested at the ER seeking treatment of gunshot wounds. The bullet the cops found in the yard DIDN'T EXPAND AT ALL! It acted just like a FMJ! This worried me at first, but figured the Gold Dot failed to open due to the hollow-point being clogged with wall board and fiberglass insulation and what-not. I'm sure you've seen the ads for Hornady Critical Defense claiming "conventional" hollow points can, and will, do just that. It wasn't until stepping on something in the bedroom carpet just a couple weeks ago that I really took notice. That "something" was the bullet that zipped through Wifey's leg! It was buried in the carpet padding after burrowing it's way through her light pajama bottoms and roughly 6-inches of thigh muscle and the damn thing looked JUST LIKE the one found in the back yard! :scare2: No expansion. Hell, no damage at all other than the rifling marks in the jacket and the hollow point had a bit of fabric from her PJ's and the carpet embedded inside. What the hell gives! I guess we're lucky it didn't open up and cause some real damage to her leg, but if the damn thing won't open when presented with a point-blank shot into a chunk of flesh like a thigh, what will it open up on? Pics below: As for ammo, I do have all the specialty type defense ammo; but lately I have steered towards the quantity vs. quality theory. Very rarely is there ever going to be a "1-shot kill" bullet situation. Keep shooting to "stop" the threat. Stop meaning slide locked back, bad guy not breathing. |
