Sold my Barrett to a guy that had to have it. I ran custom brake that reduced concussion, but it was still violent.

I shot one of the Rock River .458s and loved it.

But at the end of the day, I like having the .50 just for the intimidation factor at the range. :D I tend to be the only one shooting as soon as I crank off the first round. It sure scatters folks and makes them twitchy at the trigger. :run: :w2:

HI LOGAN, Get the big bertha, my weight is 44 pounds, scope wise the most inexpensive one I would buy would be the MILLETT 4-16X56 30mm tube or their 6-25X56 30mm tube, have both scope and they can handle 50BMG recoil, want to spend more money on a scope LEUPOLD MARK 4 4.5-14X50 and the most expensive scope I have NIGHTFORCE 5.5-22X56 This scope is the best when it comes to the 50BMG. One last thing about scope, I BEEN told that a decent scope for under $199 is the BARSKA 6-24X56, I have NEVER used this scope, but been told that it's not bad. Remember anytime you go over 25X the scope will lose clarity, light, focus, and the mirage will be magnified, So don't buy a scope thats like a telescope !!! Muzzle-brake, the STATE ARMS fish-gill SUCKS, my big bertha has one,BUT my STATE ARMS model M 50BMG, which is 10 pounds lighter than my big bertha has a FISHER MUZZLE-BRAKE, and kicks less, I would dare say less than a 20 gauge !!! I like the FISHER MUZZLE-BRAKE so much, that the other 2 50BMG rifles have them, those two rifles are McMILLAN 50BMG, one has the de-tachable tacticle stock, the other a beautiful lamented wood stock.

If you havn't already dropped the coin for a .50, you may want to look into these: AR-50A1 .50 BMG, BLACK

Local gun shop has sold several dozen over the years for around $2800.00 and has had very good reviews of them. Recoil has been reported as around a .270 win.

HI dieseldude03, I have never fired the ARMALITE, But I have heard that they don't kick much !!!

I think a .50cal would be cool, but I have no need for one. I've handled several different makes and models and I really like the AR-50. It's dead simple, built like a truck axle (and weighs about as much also) and near all of them are reported to be sub-moa accurate at 1000 yds with tailored ammo. Yea it's "only" a single-shot, but how many do you really need, especially at $5-$10 a pop for the really good stuff?
