pistols

Well turning 21 in a few weeks and one of the first things I'm wantin to buy is pistol.
I'm just wondering what for kind yall got and what'd be my best bet.
Want somethin I can have fun with but also personal protection.
Any ideas on what's my best bet?
Planning on getting concealed permit shortly after so don't need some big bulky gun.
Any help is great.

I have a ruger sr9c its a good little compact gun. I haven't carried it so I can't tell you it it's comfortable or not,im sure others will chime in.

Personally I'd go with either the M&P 9mm compact or the M&P 9mm Shield (if you can find a Shield) ....you can change backstraps out to fit his hand better....recoil is milder thus faster follow up shots then with either the 40 or the 45...9mm ammo is way cheaper to train with and carry...and if you carry 124gr Gold Dots or other premium 9mm self defense ammo the bad guy won't be able to tell if he's shot by a 9mm, a 45 or a 40....

Or if not a M&P 9mm then a Glock 19 9mm....

And then get a Raven Concealment holster....if a 3rd or 4th generation G19 go with a Raven Concealment VG2.....otherwise with the M&P get a RC phantom, wings and C clips for IWB....I have posted pictures of that rig here a couple times...it's superb....as are all of Raven Concealment holsters...you can not/will not find a better kydex holster...

Along with a quality belt like a Ares Gear Ranger Belt as the holster and belt are equally important in concealing a pistol, they are a system and need to work with each other instead of against...

And remember mission drives the gear....not the other way around...

Personally I'm a fan of the Ruger Redhawk, BUT at 7lbs and a foot long it's kind of hard for most to conceal (I don't have a problem as long as I'm wearing a jacket), so having said that, I do kind of like the Smith & Wesson MP40, easy to handle, easiest auto that I've found to put on target (I grew up on revolvers). A friend of mine who didn't touch a revolver until a couple years ago has one, everyone who's shot it likes it, him (6'2or3" 180-190lbs) his landlords daughter (5'9" 120-130lbs), me (5'10" 230lbs) and a few others. I'm the only one out of the group that handles revolvers like I was born with one and all of us shoot point of aim with that MP40 (at 25 yards).
I would not use it for hunting, but I'm used to a handgun with a 7.5" barrel not 2.5 or whatever.
Sorry about the long winded post.

You need to go and touch a whole bunch. Figure out what is comfy in YOUR hands. Then test fire them. A Glock is a great gun by any standard. But for my wife, it wasn't a comfy fit. Almost all guns are great, but not all are great for you. That being said...Springfield XDm(NOT XD), Ruger, S&W, Glock, Kimber, etc... make great carry guns in all calibers. For ease on the back pocket, 9mm. If money isn't s factor...45acp, 10mm, & 357mag have the stopping power. I carry a Ruger GP100 and the misses carries an XDm 3.8" barrel in 9mm. Good luck!

Of course you are, Mr. Bond. :citd:

I really like my Kibmer .45. It has a 5" barrel, so maybe not the best concealment, but it throws a big chunk of lead.
