10/22 projects

I've been contemplating on modifying my Ruger 10/22 for a long time and deciding what way I wanted to go with it and this is just the beginning.

Here is the rifle as I got it two years ago. All factory stainless with a synthetic stock. No modifications have been done to the rifle whatsoever.

I purchased a factory wood stock, barrel, and barrel ring as a combo all for $46 and it is on its way! The barrel and barrel ring are not going to be used in this build and are going to be set aside for when I find a good deal on a blued receiver to start an all blacked out 10/22.

Once I get the stock I am going to get the prints drawn up for later for when I am going to hand hone the stock to float a 1:16 twist, fluted, .920 green mountain/tactical innovations bull barrel.

Then it's going to get a complete trigger job, auto bolt release, extended mag release, bolt jeweling completely around the bolt, and custom barrel porting,

The reason I chose the 10/22 to mod is that its a very fun plinking and long range .22 that is extremely reliable and accurate.

I've always wanted a RUGER 10/22, there is endless options, you're going to have an accurate target 22 LR:rocking::tu:

Yeah it's going to be a fun build! I'll post some more photos when I get the stock in the mail!

I was going to drop about $400.00 (parts only ) on a 30 year old NIB 10/22. However, after taking it to the range and shooting dime size groups using match grade ammo at 100 meters......I decided to save my money........check out MIDWAY THIS MONTH........they ave a special going on your barrel. ( I was going to use the same).

Thanks for the tip man!!! Midway here I come!!!

I'm just ready to get that stock in the mail and get to work on swapping stocks and drawing up plans for modifying the factory stock. Probably the first stock mod is going to be checkering and floating the barrel.

Ok guys big question

I was looking at the difference between floating and glass bedding. What do you think will provide better accuracy and consistency?

Im getting a discography on tuesday so if my stock gets here in time I will be stuck in a chair or in the bed for a few days anyways so I am going to work on sanding down the barrel channel and getting a proper float depth

You're going to have fun with your 10/22 project:tu:

Yeah I'm gonna see how far I can go just producing at home. I can't do glass bedding but I can float the barrel, auto bolt release, trigger job, etc.
