ok guys, i spend from noon to 10:30 pm Saturday, minus a 2 hr break and about 1 hr this morning doing a FULL drop kit on my truck. I used a Mcgaughys 4.5" front/6" rear drop kit. It consisted of spindles and springs up front as well as a flip kit out back. I still have to install shocks and do some other minor stuff before i can drive it, but its fine as im waiting on a shim for my starter anyway. Heres some pics of it finished. If anyone wants any kind of write up/how to pics i will do those in another thread.

Attachment 41332 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...p/IMG_2760.jpg Sitting on Bump Stops - removed and not much change, probably will end up needing to C-Notch it Attachment 41333 Attachment 41334 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...p/IMG_2769.jpg Attachment 41335 for some reason this tire is MUCH closer to fender lip than other front tire, not sure if this is alignment issue alone or if i need to go back in and check stuff, i can BARELY get my fingers between tire and fender whereas left front i can fit fingers in there plus extra room Attachment 41336 Attachment 41337 Attachment 41338 Attachment 41339 Attachment 41340 Well guys, let me know what you all think of the outcome and any suggestions on that right front tire being so different from the other three would be awesome, i know i still need to install all 4 shocks, but i doubt thatll change this issue any. also, my buddy says since i lowered it factory alignment specs are incorrect and i need new specs that fit new parts. is this true or not. |
Looks like the camber is off, the top of the passanger tire is tilted out...
yeah, ill get that checked after i get shocks on it etc.
Looks good man!! :c:
Looks good I would get realigned before I would worry to much about that tire
lookin good Zach!
thanks guys, the thing that worries me about that tire is that if i turn at all either way itll be into the fender
Looks great man! Im a sucker for these style trucks :tu: Keep us posted on this beast!
The visor is not my style, but I like the truck.
Im usually not a visor fan at all, but I surprisingly like the way it looks on this truck.
looks like you reused old u bolts... not my thing due to them stretching like headbolts do they are 1 time use only. just putting it out there
the u bolts were meant to be re used with this kit, the bolts were fine so we went ahead and re used them, if anything comes up with them i will replace.
slick lookin' ol' short bed. Nice work. What about power plant?:tu:

355 sbc right now, will soon be a 496 bbc with HOPEFULLY a twins set up or a big ol' blower peekin out a 4" cowl hood.
btw, i received some more parts for my C10 today, and bought some last night....heres what else i got. NOS GM Chrome "Sport" rear bumper from Classic Parts for $109.95!! Attachment 41264 Attachment 41265 Attachment 41266 Attachment 41267 Exhaust turn downs and clamps so i can dump my exhaust before the rear axle Attachment 41268 Attachment 41269 I have a rear bumper bracket kit coming along with bumper bolts for my truck, doubt ill have them by Sat. but i should by next Mon or Tues. |
Are ya keepin the hitch or ditchin it? I think a roll pan would have looked great on it, just my opinion!! What kinda go fast goodies in the 355? cam, heads, intake, compression? Or just a plain old SBC? If you cant tell im really into this build ha ha :pca1: Please keep us posted :tu:
well im glad someone is into this build - the reason i chose a chrome bumper is because this is a one off custom color that id NEVER be able to perfectly match.
Af far as motor, its got edelbrock intake, 305 heads with big valves, "3/4 race" cam, etc ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- alrighty guys, got truck buttoned up tonight, got 4 shocks on, got exhaust dumped, and took a few vids of exhaust, one before the dump, one after dump in the air and one after dump at ride height. Let me know what you guys think of exhaust sound difference, it DEF sounded diff in person, not sure how well video will show the diff or not. |

ok guys, completion of "phase I" is close to being done, i got brackets from UPS today for rear bumper and proceeded to install it. Since lic. plate frame is on back order i will have to just wire tie my plate in temporary for now. Heres some pics after i got rear bumper on!

so one last thing i found out was that my front tires WOULD NOT work with the drop kit AT ALL. I got truck done and went to back out of my driveway, went slowly and at an angle, and my tire STILL contacted my inside lip of outer fender, ripping/cutting CHUNKS off my treaded sidewall/corner of the tire and slightly bending down the inside lip of the fender, so saturday morning i went to 3 places for a mad dash on new tires. Heres what came about.

i would have rolled the fender before i changed the tires....
but slick looking truck though. I have to get working on my grandfather's 85 Scottsdale he purchased new in 85. it has been sitting a long time so it will be a resurrection of sorts. BTW it is a SWB like that one, but had 4 headlights IIRC |
It stinks you couldnt fit those fat 275s on there, they looked mean. The bumper looks nice on it, keepin it simple and classic looking. Sounds great too. Might sound a little better with that BBC in there tho :w2: ha ha
BTW, love the wheel chock when changing the front tires..... is that a 3# sledge hammer?
