i currently have all the parts needed for re-assembly . . . except for the head. sent it out to get decked, tested, and have the valve seals replaced. still waiting on its return . . .

:tu: nice lookin truck:c:

cummins95 03-01-2011 07:43 PM

i'd strongly recommend gettin a 3 piece manifold. the stock ones are known to shrink n either bust the bolts, or break the ears outta the head. i just ordered a 3 pc cuz my stock one is noticeably shrunken, n my buddies 98 busted the head in 3 places... also are ya puttin head studs in it? just a little advice. good lookin truck tho

@ monster12 - thank you

@ cummins95 - already have the ARP studs, and, i would love to get a new manifold, but, finances are a little on the tight side at the moment. im just trying to get her running before i start getting stupid with her :s:

im actually gettin ready to do the exact same thing to my 95. do ya have any tips for me for pullin the head? im thinkin bout pullin the hood off n usin our 1 ton chain hoist to get it out.

ZX980 03-06-2011 02:09 PM

pullin the hood wont do much good, the cowling over the rear of the engine is metal on the underside. pull out the front cross member and the radiator and intercooler, and AC if you have it. that will let you have one person on the exhaust side of the engine to hold the rear, and one person at the front, and you can basically just walk it out. plus, taking it out isnt the hard part, its putting it back in, because you have to make sure to set the head down straight, and not slide it on the gasket

finally got her all back together and running!!!
