Reason #3489 I Love My Cummins
1 Attachment(s)
Dad called me to see if I could help him go get a Fork Lift, he had just gotten a tooth pulled, was on pain meds and needed me to drive, I said sure. The wife had teh Cummins so we went and grabbed my moms Duramax and the trailer, We figured the total combined weight to right about 24,000-25,000 lbs... It pulled good but I could definatly feel the difference in lack of low end torque. Once up to speed it went with no problems but starting off was definatly weaker. Also the fuel milage sucked, 6.5 mpg. I do have a heavy right foot but that was crazy. I can get 9-10 our of the Cummins with a similer load. I did really like the Allison though shifted great and the down shifts while slowing were really nice to have.

I'd love to have my Cummins backed by an Allison, and have the push button shifter!

I will say this much, it was cold, and icing, and raining while we chained down. The heated leather seats felt GREAT!!! :D

Got that forklift far enough forward? Shoulda let the trailer do some more of the work... :tttt:
