painting and sanding tips

im going to start to sand down all the silver on my truck where its a two tone and paint it either black or use a rubberized coating and i was wondering what grit sandpaper to use to sand the paint down?

also tips on painting plastic on the front bumper, id like to paint the grey plastic on the bumper black aswell.

Not sure on sanding down the paint but I painted my plastic on my front bumper. https://www.dieselbombers.com/show-t...-new-look.html

I used scotch-brite pads to scuff up the plastic to help the paint stick better. Cleaned the plastic with a tack cloth, then applied paint. My bumper i did 3 coats of Krylon satin black, waited about 20 minutes between each coat, then applied 3 coats of Krylon gloss clear, waited about 20-25 minutes between each coat. Very simple to do! Good luck, and remember PATIENCE! (I have trouble with that) :tu:

I'm not very good at before-during-and after pics. I'm lucky to get a before pic sometimes.

If the paint itself is in good shape and not peeling you can simply scuff it up and spray over it. A red scuff pad will do the trick quickly as long as you're applying primer.

And since you'll be masking the straight line of silver I suggest 3M FineLine tape.

To paint the plastic make sure you use an adhesion promoter like Bulldog. You can even pick that stuff up at some Wal-Marts these days.

They make paint for plastic trim, not sure if regular spray paint will hold up as well :c:
