New wheels and tires!!

Picked up some new tires and wheels the other day! Got 5 of the H1 military take off 37's for $500, still have about 80-85% tread left on them. Got the wheels from my Moms neighbor I grew up next to for $20! :jump: Will post some pics of them on the truck after I get them mounted and on the truck. Probably gonna finish burnin up the 315's and put the H1's on right before the Memorial Weekend camping trip. Hmmmmm, to leave the wheels alone or paint/powder coat them flat black..........

Black than polish the rivets or nuts whichever they are back out.

Nice score! It's a win/win whatever you do with the wheels, I've seen that style of wheel both ways and it looked good as is and blacked out. Polishing the rivets would look pretty sweet if you blacked them out. :tu:

that would be nice blacked out

i got the 36 inch h1 tires for my ford, 100 bucks for all 4. 75-80 percent left. cant beat it.

My co-worker has those same tires on his ex-military Ford Bronco...those are some very aggressive tires, big and meaty...he says they work great in the sand as well...you will like them very much:rocking:

how and where do you get those tires?.. and i think definetly should go with blacked out:jump:

100Dollarman - Tires! .... all the cheap military tires u can handle!

Yeah, I'm thinkin blacking them out will be the way to go, I really like the way my black 16's look on the truck. The polished rivets would look cool, but sounds like a lot of work!! I got these ones off the local Craigslist. There is a tire shop here in Spokane that gets them in and sells them, but they wanted $600 for four of them. There is also a guy from Texas that sells them for a decent price on ebay, has a website too, but I didn't want to deal with shipping. Dieselcrawler, you got a really good deal on those!!! I wanted the radials though since it is my DD. I heard that the 36's don't do that good in snow and ice.

Got my tires on this last weekend!! Gonna have to do a touch of trimming on the back of the front fender though. And what is any self respecting redneck going to do with new mud tires?? Test them!! Went out behind my buddies house to his mud pits, didn't turn out so well, mud was soupy and sticky as hell. Got 'er stuck twice, got my buddies Jeep out to winch it out. Then got the Jeep stuck big time at the end of the day. Ripped the front bumper half off the Jeep the second time of winching me out, ripped the back bumper half off trying to yank him out, and he blew a radiator hose and overheated it, had to leave it over night.

Looks good...nasty looking mud though.

I was looking into getting military tires before. Might go that way, i don't know though. Looks sweet! :tu:

DieselCrawler 05-18-2010 05:05 AM

yea, i dont run the 36's on the road to much. around town i will keep them on, but i got 35x12.5 depek mud countrys that are shot for offorad but still got for road use. the bias plys arent to bad on road once they warm up, but the first 4-6 miles are horendous. did have them on for the lots of snow we got this past winter. in light snow they suck just like any mud tire. in deeper stuff they ripped and clawed their way threw more than i thought they would.

FordDZLMan9191 05-18-2010 10:02 AM

I think the biggest advantage to running military tires is that you can get them cheaper than regular tires, let alone mud tires. I just wish that the radials weren't 37s. I don't care for lifting a DD over 4". But that's me.

92_cummins_f250 05-18-2010 11:20 PM

Yeah, I have heard the 36's really suck on on-road snowy roads. I'm hoping the 37's do better, ever heard of anyone siping them? Thats the main reason I got them was they are waaaay cheaper than any other tire that size. I've heard they hold up fairly well too. And my truck just kinda ended up that tall, we just kinda guessed on height when we built the front spring hangers.
