black truck

whats the best thing to hand wash a black truck?

I personally dont have a black truck but thats about all my dad drives. He uses a microfiber mit, meguiars gold class car wash, he uses a gold class meguiars spray detailer to finish after he gets done chamoising it. I know there are a lot of spelling errors in this but you get the drift.

well, i have a wash mit, then towel dry. then i use turtle wax "ice" and make it shine. then i have it proffesionally detailed once every year too...

I dont know about the ice. My dad has some and I use it over the meguiars stuff but he swears by the gold class over the ice any day

My truck is blue, but my wifes car is black. On either vehicle I use an Acrylic wash pad, and two buckets. One for the car wash shampoo and the second for rinsing the pad. I use a blower to air dry the vehicles cracks and crevices, then wipe down the entire vehicle with Detailing spray and a micro-fiber waffle towel. I have to say. the results are perfect every time. My wife has sworn off the local car washes. My way, no more swirl marks.... Nothing but Shine...

Wax On Wax Off

I had a Black 98 Ram Quad Cab 4x4 w/Canopy since new till I sold it last year to get my Duramax. People I know and even strangers would comment on how smooth and shiny it was till the day I sold it. Here is my Recipe: 1) Meguiar's Gold Car Wash, 2) Mothers Clay Bar (That is what really gets the surface clean and ready to polish) 3) Meguiar's Deep Crystal System Polish, 4) Meguiar's Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax, 5) Buff, Buff, Buff! So it's Wash and Dry. Then use the Clay Bar and your paint will feel like Glass! Then Polish by hand or with a high speed buffer to remove any light scratches or swirls but be careful not to burn through. Then you are ready for "Wax On" - "Wax Off" followed by a finishing Buff. When I sold my truck the paint was way smoother that it was when new.
I sold it on craigslist to the first guy that looked at it for thousands over Blue Book or NADA.
It was nice to know it was finally getting the garage it deserved.:tu:

If you want real detailing stuff check http://www.autogeek.net/

I personally use Chemical Guys products. Anything OTC is not going to be as good as professional stuff, even Meguire's and Mothers makes pro products that aren't sold in stores.

Here's what I use and it works awesome, also it leaves a small coat of wax on the surface: Car Wash Shampoo is a gentle-cleansing liquid gel car wash Car Wash Shampoo
If you look around you'll see that OTC stuff is much cheaper... but I always say you get what you pay for.
