|
i found a kit at harbor freight for 15bux a while back and used it on my mom's mustang. it worked great....
|
well if you were closer, id say drive over and we would use the rest of my kit on yours.
|
yep.. it is pretty A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.. ive got it at my house...
|
nice. we sell those at work, maybe i'll pick one up.
|
Wow, thats ridiculous. May have to try that on the wifes mustang headlights!

heres a camera pic
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- i highly recomend using a slow speed (i never hit wide open) and wet sanding with every disk. i did about 3 very thorough passes with each disk. |
let me know if you find anything that can replenish the rubber on the tires, i seem to have the same problem you do............:tttt:
|
I tried it too and it worked great. Just have to take your time and follow the directions.:tu:
|
Alignment out of whack??

I can attest to how sweet this kit is!!! It cost me 35$ though.. Stupid AutoZone... However it was WELL worth it!!
My headlights were way worse... But they are crystal clear now! :rocking: |

i used the mequires polish an my headlights came out great.. heres a tip.. you can paint over the headlight with clear paint.. will keep them from hazing over again..my buddy that tints rear taillights showed me that trick..:c:
|
Even cheaper if you use Mothers Mag and Aluminum wheel polish and a buffer. Then seal the lights over with a good hard paste wax and they will stay that way for a long time.
It was shown to us at a detailing seminar many years ago as a way to cure the then yellowing headlights of the Shadows and Early Escorts. |

The kit is WAY faster then hand sanding.... I have hand sanded MANY headlights. This is much quicker and comes out much more even. Plus you dont slam your finger into the little nubbies molded into the headlight (some cars have them). Plus i cant imagine what a PITA it would be to do fog lights. I did my fogs in about 5 minutes per side. Before and after pix... http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/4408/im000273.jpg http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/4823/im000275.jpg |
I see no after?

i have found a kit that comes with the sander, buffer, multi grit sand papers, and compound and polish that works extemely well
takes a little more time and effert to do but it works the best if used right you can turn a old dingy light to looking like a new one i got my kit from my matco tools guy, i beleive most auto parts stores can get them as well |
I've been doing headlight restoration professionally for 3 years now. The kits that you buy for $15-$35 in the store don't quite get the job done as well as someone like myself can, but I am an auto enthusiast first and foremost so I know the satisfaction of the completed DIY. Keep in mind that you need to keep up on your lights or they will return to the previous state. Not sure how much plastic polish comes in those kits but at least once a month apply some via hand or buffer to your lights to keep the clear, lustrous finish.

I picked up the 3m kit at work for $12 with $3 mail in rebate and used it on the jetta. I've hand sanded lights before but man this was easier and really did work better. well worth the money. I disassembled the housings, did both sides of the lense, and lexan'd them back together. night and day difference. literally.
