I used the Turtle wax brand stuff
1. Rinsed the truck off to remove all of the big debris 2. I use the Turtle wax Zip wax brand Carwash soap. 3. With a soft bristle wash brush with extendable handle i start and do one spot at a time. First the drivers rear bed side wash that with the soap and brush, rinse that. Then i move to the dirvers door and qc door wash that and rinse. then the front fender and half the hood and rinse. Then next is the grille wash and rinse. And so on down the pass side of the truck. 4. After the first wash i my self repeat the above just incase I missed a spot nothig worse than a nice clean truck with a dirt smear mark on the side. 5. On this occasion of my wash/detail i had purchased a Ice clay bar kit by turtle wax but it was getting late in the day and was fairly cold about 45-50deg so i dint want to do that. Instead to get a pretty quick and easy shine on the go i used a 1 step Wax and Dry by turtle wax also. With this you just spray it on wet. This the same way as i wash one panel at a time just spray it on wet and the i use a micor fiber towel to dry on a truck like mine i needed two towels one for each side. Now with this wax and dry just spray it on any thing windows and all works well for them too. And if when you are doing the wax and dry you get to a panel that is drying just gently spray it as not to get any water on the panels thay you have already done. 6. After the wax and dry is applied for my plastics mirros, trim, bumper covers ect I used meguiars natural shine. for this it says to spray onto the piece you are working on. I dont do this because i dont want over spray on my paint. So i spray some into the rag that i am using and wipe the rag onto the piece i am working on being careful not to get any on the paint (dont think it will hurt the paint just makes oily type streaks on the already waxed surface. 7. Next on the tires i used once again Turtle wax Wet n black tire shine. Started with one Sprayed it then the next let them all sit about 3-5min and then wiped them off. 8.My final step is using a dry microfiber towel and wipe the paint down softly to remove any water drips and just to give a nice polish too. 9. After I wipe the painted surface down i move to the chrome polish it and then on to the plastics just to make sure that the protectant got spread evenly around. 10. Now to keep the shine both inside and out I have found that one of those california dusters work very well to remove fine dust from your truck. Just becareful for biger pieces so you dont scratch the paint I shake mine out 4 or 5 times when using it just to get the dust out and to make sure i didnt pick up any bigger pieces that would scratch the surface. They also make a smaller version of the Duster for the interior and i just throw both of them under the back seat and use them when ever i need a quick shine if i get a fine layer of dust attracted on the truck. I wasnt very prepaired for this on my first how to but i will get some pics of the products that i used and post them later but for now here it the step by step. :hellox::c: |

looks like i aint the only guy that uses the turtle wax brand for most everything. what i like about all these products is they are always readly available at the 24 hr wal-fart, i use to stop and pick up stuff when i would have to wait for my girlfriend (now wife) get off work, gave me something to do in the parking lot on the late nights. great post, and the truck looks awsome. elbow grease will go a far way with the right attitude.:tu:

Nice man thats quite a haul. I am just kinda self taught on this whole detialing thing just learning more and more as i go. Im learning i make it look nice that its not just going to the carwash and hosing it off and hoping for the best but rather its quite a science to detailing and making it look nice and stay nice and things have to be done in steps i myself rather enjoy it get a sence of satisfaction out of it you can see where it started and the end result havin fun with it
BTW what are those round screen looking things for zach just trying to learn more on the detail side of trucks and not just the mechanics lol :c: |
Seems like you never have enough hours in a day to fully detail a full size truck.
