So I bought my truck and I just know it came from a farm in SW Nebraska ( scatches galour ) do I just use a water hose get the 2K sand paper wet and go to town on the scratched areas ( or am i being a pole!:s: ) then buff with rubbing compound and then wax? not trying to be an idiot here jsut wanting to know how to get back the luster of a new paint truck look....

On the subject of scratch removing if only to the clear coat, First wash the truck with a good soap and plenty of clean water, to remove any contaminates and grit. Second, start with 1000 grit sand paper with running water; make sure u use a rag or tape around the nozzle of the hose to prevent any more scratches. Sand in one direction only, etc horizontal or vertical. Wash the vehicle off with clear water to remove sanding residue and proceed to the finish sanding step. Use 2000 grit wet dry sand paper with water as before, but this time sand in the oppsite direction than before. Wash again to remove the sanding residue and then use Mcquire's #7 rubbinig compound by hand or machine. Buff the #7 off by hand or machine and then apply McQuire's X2 car polish or any other good car wax to seal the clear coat. If the scratches are to one or two panels do just thse panels and wax the entire truck. Hope this helps....

Fineline. When the body shop does my badging, they use fineline after they strip all the old tape/adhesive with a flap wheel.
