With the new clearcoat paints, wax is more for a shinny look and thats it. Protection from the sun to avoid oxidation on the older, non clearcoat paints was important but nowday not so much so.
My 03 has never had a wax job and still looks new...gets parked outside 24/7
My 97 was 8 years old when i sold it and it too still looked new.
I'm not saying wax is a bad thing at all, just to much work and time for the little benefit you get from it.

I love the Meguiers Quick detailer after i wash....

Duluth Diesel 05-07-2007 01:55 PM

Mothers. Used their stuff for years, and now that I can get it cheap through AMSOIL it is even better for me. I have two Mothers Polish Balls in the shop that are destined to polish my bumper as well, just gotta get around to it.

I use Mothers.. I am in the same boat as Duluth.. I always used it, and now that I can get it through AMSOIL I use it on all my vehicles.

Good to see you come over and visit DB.
FYI for everyone - DB has been a dieselplace member for a while and will give a lot of good input on DMax's.

Well thanks DD

I tried the clay bar a few years ago and it just made a mess of mine. Left dull spots every where it grabbed. Never could figure out what I was doin wrong. But then again this is a 99 and that's the only time I ever tried to do anything for waxin it. Once in a while I wipe the dust away from the guages so i can see how fast I'm goin. Out in the country I can make this thing spotless and the next day it has a layer of dust covering it, so now days a good rain does it. I am gonna have to clean out the back seat some day though, haven't seen it in some months. It's full a parts and pieces for projects I just never have gotten around to finishin.
