Truck Wreck At The NHRDA Fountain Florida Race....

this is my neighbor Gary's truck after the wreck, and she was fast.......

He left soft cause the track was not so good...got about 60' out and hit full boost (120psi) then hit the lock-up switch...after that he was just along for the ride.....he hit the left wall at 91 mph, bounced off and headed for the right wall which sent him airborne, clipped off a light pole somewhere around 20' high, hit the ground and rolled at least twice before coming to a stop on all 4 wheels.

talked to him on his way home and a new truck has already been bought and the old truck is being stripped......

spend your money how you want people but if your gonna be fast you better be safe, his cage and 5 point harness saved his life......this is directly from Gary posted on CompD......

I am living proof that a roll cage and seat belt's will increase your survival rate a whole lot. For those of you sitting on the fence about safety equipment this should really open your eye's. Do it for me, your wife, girlfriend, child, whoever.........JUST DO IT. I swear I would not be here typing this message to you had it not been for my safety euipment. Before the dust cleared and the truck quit shaking I had DJ opening the door to check on me, Phillip Palmer was right there, Micky, Matt, Chris, Randy, and a gozillion other people that were really concerned about me. I love all you guy's really. Really they were close enough where I could hear their voice because my glasses were some 50' behind me in the dirt, and those of you that know me know I don't see really well without them. I know I left some people out, but to each and everyone of you that was there, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I would like to say I remember what all happene, but I can't. The video will be up in a day or two and I want everyone on Comp D to watch it. It may have been driver error, or the track, but the point I want to make is this, we all make mistake's and your life can be over in the twinkling of an eye. I am very fortunate to be a part of the best diesel racing bunch in the world..........and I WILL be back. Gary

It looks like he is going to be ok, thank goodness he had the roll cage.

LOGANSTANFORTH 03-16-2008 11:13 PM

yes that is what Unbroken posted, it was easier to copy and paste what he said instead of me typing it........i figured i would share this with everyone cause of the steps that need to be taken towards safety.......i worked at a dirt track for 5 years and have seen stuff that would scar normal people for life, ever seen a person with a fire suit melted to their legs????? dont screw around with safety......

i talked to (wrongway) Gary (the trucks owner and my neighbor in florida) on his way home tonite, he pretty much told me everything Unbroken posted cause he talked to Unbroken earlier in the night and i didnt get his voice mail til like 9:15, i didnt get home and read Unbroken's post til almost 11 PM......i talked to Gary at like 9:30 when i called him back........im am going to stop by Gary's house tuesday when i get home from ohio and see how he's doing.....and like i said, it was easier to copy and paste what Unbroken said then to type the EXACT same thing word for word that came from Gary.....

I can't say that I know who the driver is, but that doesn't matter. I am just very glad that he is OK and at home with his family.
But as was said, the safety equipment is needed.

I don't know him but I feel for him. I have seen the video and he is lucky to be here. Safety equipment is needed in anything that can be dangerous. I am sure that several racers will think twice about their cage or lack their of now, along with other safety equipment.
