Mig welders

hey all, i was in the market for a good mig welder that'll last me a good while.i was looking in the 135-180 amp range or the biggest 115v i can get. i was looking at the new miller 211 w/autoset mostly because i can switch between 110 and 230v.anyone hear anything about the new millers or own one?

i have a hobart 140 and 250 i love them no problems out of them at all

Cant go wrong with a miller they are some of the best welders out there. Stay away from the smaller harry homeowner ones you can get at like Lowes or home depot they aren't made as well. The larger Lincoln and Hobart are good as well. I have Lincoln 155 which is the largest 110v welder you can get from them and it doesn't hold a candle to the miller 251 I run now with autoset.

Miller is a damn fine welder in any trim. Not to take away from any of the other bigger names but I see a lot of old Millers still in service. Just my $.02 :c:

welders are like motors more is better, stay with a name brand that takes big rolls
and use gas

Nice analogy
Yeah definitely use gas the welds are much better, I still run a little flux core in the 110v for fence welding or stuff I don't want to waste gas on.

i was wondering..what if i used flux core and gas at the same time?would i get cleaner welds or would i just be wasting gas?thanks for the advice guys

you'd be wasting the gas and the weld wouldn't look good.

CummingRam 05-18-2010 12:32 PM

okay so ill just run gas then.whats the best mix?i heard 75/25 is pretty good for most welds
