Dana 60 Seal Installer

I ruined a few seal trying to install them on the passanger side of the truck, so I made an installer. Its basiclly a press, but machined so that it stays centered on the seal and on the outside of the axle tube where the steering knucle goes. I used a .5" fine thread all thread, and with a ratch wrech you can do it inside the CAD housing, making the second person not necssery to aling the seal while you bang it.

The first picture is the one that goes against the seal, notice the small machined lip, this fits snuggly inside the seal, while not going too deep as to risk the lips.

The second is the one that goes into the outside of the axle tube, it has a longer larger lip to help it stay centered.

More pictures to come of it in use.

Yup, we got one very similar in the garage. I believe ours was bought though and not made. Either way it beets the heck out of trying to get one in there without it.

That's pretty cool! I made one a few years ago as well, though I used a piece of exhaust tubing.
