Loosening Turbo/Exhaust bolts

This might be a stupid question, but I am curious how many have had trouble getting the bolts loose on their turbo/exhaust down pipe mount. Looking at mine I would not be shocked if they have not been loosened since the truck new. I did shoot a bunch of WD-40 on them tonight and will do so again tomorrow morning. I didnt know if some one had a trick on getting them loose with out snapping them off.

are you ttalking about the bolts that conect the exhaust elbow to the downpipe or the v-band clamp that conects the elbow to the turbo exhaust housing?

Step up from WD40... Go get you some PB Blaster! Soak them good a day before and then about an hour before and take em out!

x2 you need PB blaster. I never gave into people saying that crap works, but unfortunately for my reasoning skills it does work THAT well. :argh:

Spray it the night before, the morning of, and an hour before you try to get them off and you shouldn't break any off. :U:

Thanx for the input, I did soak everything with WD-40 last night about 3 x and again this morning. Once I had the pipe out from under the truck I was able to break the bolts free easily. BUT I decided to loosen the V-Clamp and take the pipe loose that way. I ended up breaking the bolt on that clamp. I even had sprayed it too. So now I am waiting to get a new one tomorrow. The nearest Dodge dealership that had one in stock was 3-4 hours away. I checked with all the local semi dealers as well and basically no luck either. So I ended up ordering thru the local Sterling dealer and should be in tomorrow.

:pca1: I have yet to use Kroil but everything I've heard is that it's better than PB Blaster, I don't know how. In a pinch, PB Blaster is available at any auto parts store. WD40 works almost as well as a urine/salt water mix.

We use a shitload of PB Blaster in the mill i work in...dont know how Kroil could be better!
