My New Tool/Toy
 

Well, it's not new, but new to me. Dad picked it up this weekend. I've been doing a lot of horsehoe art/decorations for my mom and need someway to blast them. I had been using a small hand blaster from Sears and it was a major PITA and dirty and crappy etc etc. Paid $200 for it, needs a little paint and new glass for the door, but work great! Used it quite a bit this weekend. It's been primered since these pics, but need to get some paint to finish it up and a rebuild kit for the gun.

If anyone has experience with abrasive blasting, I'd like to hear your thoughts/advice on the different types of media. Right now we're using silica sand, but I'd like to try other stuff as well.

when ya get new glass also get some plastic protectors to install under the glass....gota change em out alot but it keeps the glass new and a helll of alot cheaper too...............stick with the silica sand, we use the white silica but I dont know what grit it is right off hand

how do you sand blast a sand blaster ? :humm: A BIGGER SAND BLASTER ! :D

Put your thumb over the nozzle every now and then to blow air back up the sand to clear it all out , as the sand gets more and more used will need to keep thumbing the nozzle and banging the cabinet with your knee as it will funnel out

just bought a new one a last week to do my bike parts ,I am using crushed glass instead of sand it is not as abrasive on the aluminum parts and the cover slips on the inside of the glass are great,but you have to keep changing them alot, a light inside the cabinet helps too:U:
