Turbo failure due to contaminated lube oil is caused by:

-poor oil filter maintenance
-oil filter bypass ( cold starting/clogged filters)
-dirt entering the crankcase by inlet air (bad air filter)

Before you spend money on a lifetime filter, think about Turbo Awareness Behaviors.
-Let the engine idle at startup, a turbo is a supplemental device and usually the last device which receives oil.
-let the engine reach operating temperatures, before you hit the pedal. Your turbo will love you for that behavior.
- before shutdown let your engine idle, to cool down! typical mistake to avoid: stop for refueling on the interstate.If you know you have to refuel, go easy before you leave the interstate.

The most important thing: Change the oil, when you are supposed to do! You have to keep the concentration of the particles smaller than 30 µm as low as possible.:humm:

IMO there is NO SUCH THING as a lifetime filter. Filters and oil are cheap when compared to engines and transmissions.

Very True !!! But , you do not have to change every 3 k either .... On a diesel in city (7 K ) and 75% or more highway ( 10 K ) on my N14 cummins I go (15 K ) @ 75% highway !!! :U::U:
