PTO Gaskets...Reusable?

Anyone have a source for a reusable gasket for the PTO covers? At one time, there was a rumor about a reusable GM gasket, but I never found a part number.

I get tired of redoing the silicone every time I pull the covers from my 5600...

i doubt it....call Enterprise Engine Performance....they sell alot of NV5600 stuff.....

Moot point now, truck is going bye-bye...this 3rd gen has disappointed me for the last time.

just a ? but why are you pulling the pto cover repeatedly?

Dr. Evil 07-14-2009 09:15 PM

to change the fluid

wildcat 07-14-2009 11:06 PM

wow.. No drain plug, huh?

I'd have had to make one! lol

Dr. Evil 07-14-2009 11:29 PM

Nope...just pull one of the bolts on the bottom to drain the oil.

wildcat 07-14-2009 11:39 PM

Ok. I'm lost. why was he repeatedly pulling the cover to drain oil and getting upset about re-doing the RTV gasket, if all he had to do was pull a bolt? Was he cleaning out the bottom of the Transmission while he was doing the oil change? Or maybe a visual inspection?

lol

Not that it matters now... guess he sold the truck...

Dr. Evil 07-14-2009 11:55 PM

Yeah, you drain the oil, pull the rest of the bolts, take the cover off and clean the magnet. RTV it back up install bolts, and refill with fresh fluid.

It could help someone - so why not?

Ohh ok so that makes sense. Please forgive my ignorance. It's been a while since I've had a Manual transmission (9 years..)

I wonder if anyone has suggested a replaceable gasket to a company like Geno's or even one of our other vendors...
