Just figured I'd say "Hi". The company I work for has an early 90s Prevost bus with a temperamental Silver 92, currently running pretty good, probably just a matter of time before the next calamity. Our current project is removing the limo style interior and installing standard bus seating for increased capacity. Then we're gonna be replacing the drive axle brakes. Fun, fun. If anybody has any tips for motor upgrades or preventative maintainance, I'd love to hear 'em, we don't see too many Silver 92s in this shop.:c:

They got the seats installed while I was working on other trucks. Looked like a real PIA. Replaced the downpipe, it was leaking directly onto a coolant pipe, causing high water temps. What's normal oil pressure at idle? We're getting approximately 13psi on a mechanical test gauge. Better than the 3psi when they brought it in. Apparently it's not in the driver's job to check oil, we did and it was 2 gallons low. Oh well, still running more or less alright, for how long, I guess we'll see.:tttt:

Oil change! The boss had us put in Mobil Delvac, along with two gallons of Lucas oil stabilizer. I think I read on here that the silver engines use 15w/40, so I hope that's right. Changed oil in the generator too, straight 15w/40 Mobil Delvac. It's got some other issues that the shop foreman is wrestling with, upgrading the A/C, minor air leaks, seems like the odometer doesn't work, etc., I've been too busy working on other trucks to check it out much.

If I remember right the 92 Detroit will run down to as low as 5psi hot at idle but should jump up to 30psi when rpm's are brought up. I had one of these animals I had to deal with. It sated a motorhome. All the motorhome part was the biggest pain in the ass. The biggest problem I had with the drive train was it overheating here in the Las Vegas heat. I had to have the biggest built that I could fit into it and make it a duel pass radiator. I also had to relocate the heater shut off valves. If you keep it in Nebraska and the cool country you well probably be OK. Oh we also had to detune it to 400hp. GOOD LUCK:hellox:

Way too late but... Unless it is XX below zero, never run anything but straight 40wt Delo 100 in a 6V92. 15W40 will eventually wreck crank and/or rod bearings. The two stroke cycle doesn't have time for oil film recovery as there is a power stroke every 360 degrees of crank rotation vs. every 720 on a four stroke. Do some in depth reading if you don't believe me:)
