help with excuses

I have been trying to find excuses to get my dad to let me under the hood or I should say bed of their 12v cummins diesel pusher motorhome. I just think it would be awesome to have a few extra ponies in the 30ft RV. tried the extra fuel mileage and the make it easier to tow your trailer yada yada yada you guys got any good ideas?

just do it and don't tell him....or offer to change the oil and go from there..... check the "airfilter" and it might need a BHAF..... catch my drift?

I have thought about that but the RV is kinda his baby but I think I have him almost talked into letting me check in on the kdp and if that happens the pump might need to be readjusted also

to be honest.............let it be. not the type of vehicle to be messin with IMO.

definitely check the KDP, but first and foremost get some gauges on that thing, that is A LOT of weight to be pushin around and i bet it'll get HOT quick without proper tuning and monitoring....

I know if he ever let me mess with any fuel or anything with it I would get gauges personally I tried to talk him into them anyways just for good measure. I do really want to check in on the KDP though cuz I have seen the damage it can do and its cheap to prevent.

First, a EGT gauge is critical - and a boost gauge is nice.

After that, changing the pump fuel plate, star wheel adjustment, and moderate pump timing advance is a great idea if you go easy and moderate.

MPG when driving it easy should increase.

More power when you need it is a safety issue. Acceleration merging as in on ramps etc is a good thing. More speed on hill climbing as long as EGTs are ok is a good thing. Getting around faster if you need to pass is a good thing.

I am a full time RVer in a 33,000 lb 37'8" Bluebird with a Cummins C8.3 turbo and am doing these things myself. See my post in this same area of the site.

Look at the Banks web site and check out their charts of MPG, acceleration etc. You can do virtually the same thing as the banks site, for only the cost of a fuel plate (about $225).

Have dad check out my post, the Banks site, and my blog at : Too Many Cats . I'm 53 years old and retired military (not modding just to mod it), and I would have welcomed help from a knowledable person in getting this stuff done. Go for it dad - but watch the egt gauge to stay safe!

I know exactly what I would do to it it's more of a way of getting my stubborn old man to let me touch it. Heck I think I actually have all the parts for it floating around that i keep as extras for my truck lol.
