What's This 6.2 Worth?
 

1984 Chevy K10 Diesel 4x4 short bed
Runs good and tagged till Nov 2012
Price: $2300 OBO.

Engine: 6.2 Diesel, High miles but still runs good
Transmission: 700R4, was rebuilt 3 years ago, shifts very nice

Tires: 33x12.50R15

Talked to the guy, said it has trouble with cold starts and there is a little blow by out of the oil fill. He said he doesn't know the mileage exactly, but it's a lot. Said when it warms up it runs good and will get 22-23mpg. I know it will need body work and primer. Looks like something tore up the driver's side. A tune up, maybe more? What do you guys think? There's a couple questions I forgot to ask him, but he's supposed to contact me within a few days. It's also 3 hours away from me one way.
I want a DD, I'm going to college and my gas truck gets awful mileage. From what I've read the Detroit Diesels get the best mileage of the fullsize diesels. Don't care much for towing capability, I know they aren't a HD diesel. And I believe they're fairly simple to work on, with pretty affordable parts. I originally wanted a 1st gen 12V, but they go for a high price even all beat up. First time potential diesel buyer.
