Need Cummins and warranty advice
Hey everyobody, I am in the market to finally get my first diesel. I took the initiative to spend some time talking to a man who owns an independent diesel repair shop here in the DFW area. From reading and talking to this guy I have pretty much decided to go with a Dodge. I have 2 dilemma's I am faced with. 1. Do I go 5.9L or 6.7L? 2. Do I buy an aftermarket warranty? The dealership is touting theirs as "diesel specific" warranties and that they are good, but they only pay $3000 max per incident. I would very much like to hear your thoughts. BTW, the truck I am looking at is at place called the North Texas Truck Stop, they are a used diesel place that pretty much sells only clean used diesels, so that's why they are diesel specific warranties according to them. Thanks! :tu:

What's the truck your looking at specifically? Miles? Mods? Asking price?

If they are all automatic trannies, I like the 68RE with the 6.7 quite a bit better than the 48RE with the 5.9. The problem with a 6.7 is to get the fuel mileage you would get with a 5.9, you have to do the deletes (DPF, with a tune).
I always liked the looks of a megacab dually though :tu: ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- If they are all auto tranny's, I like the 68RE behind the 6.7 quite a bit more than the 48RE behind the 5.9. You can get a new 2012 HO crew cab Big Horn for 42,000 subtract 1100 if you don't need the auto.
I really think 33K is to much for a 09 with 43K miles that your thinking that you should buy a extended warranty for |
