2500 4x4 Dodge Ford or Chevy?

I am looking to buy a 2500 4x4. Towing is not my 1st priority. My biggest concern is fuel mileage, I want the most mpg possible (i know its a big truck, and I need a truck...so please dont reply w/ go buy a civic). My next concern is with power, followed by ride quality (I'm a county boy...I dont neec a Cadillac). I want the most reliable truck with the least compromise (best pros and cons package) with engine being my main concern, followed by trans, then suspension, break system, ect. Keep in mind mpg...I mix city and highway driving about evenly. Mods will include programmer, exhaust, cold air intake/manifold...ect. Gauges and typical bolt-ons. Thanks for your unbiased responses in advance.
2006-2008 dodge
2005-2008 Dmax
2004-2008 Ford
Are my choices...info on best years/options to look for on each are appreciated.

Welcome to the show.

I'd go with either the 08 ford or the 07 chevy/gmc. The ford is going to be tough as hell, but you'll need to mod it to get the MPG you're looking for. The ford has a lot of power and a tough trans.

If you don't want to mod anything, the 07 chevy/gmc was the last year without a DPF. The dmax and allison is a beast of a combo. Better ride than ford (IMO) with the IFS. Lots of power and better MPG than the ford from the factory.

IMO if your looking for ride go with the chevy/GMC 2004.5-2007 and dependability for initial expense... I say that because Dodge you just need to build the tranny and Ford well I wont go into any specifics but the basic Chevy package box stock is great just remember ONLY initial expense it gets costly to rebuld the D-max!!!!
I own a 2005 Cummins and it is my third diesel but second cummins I have done nothing but intake and exhaust with 35" tall tires and I get 19.47 mpg city/freeway I love my truck. The Cummins is very cheap if looking to rebuild or build; comparing to ford or chevy there is alot more rotating mass to contend with, I am sure there will be tons of arguments but my buddy owns an unbiased diesel performance and repair shop and he also chooses Dodge over the rest. I like the Chevy and the new Ford BUT I am not going to switch trucks when Dodge has been nothing but the best for me and my needs Good luck in your choice!!!
