purpose of gauges? and dodge wheels on ford
 

I'm new to diesels and I'm looking at a 97 F-250 powerstroke with 125000 miles on it. There aren't any gauges. From what I've read, gauges are important. My question is why are they important and are they expensive? Also another question. I have a 96 dodge ram 2500 with aftermarket wheels and 35 inch tires on. Will these wheels fit this truck and will the tires be too big with the stock ride height? Some info about the truck I'm looking at: The body is in pretty decent shape only 2 spots with surface rust and there is a dent in the front drivers side fender. The bed was used so it has to dents and dings. I believe it was used to tow like a 5th wheel trailer. Only things we noticed when we looked at it was oil on the valve cover. And today I looked again but underneath this time and I saw some oil on back on the passengers side of the block. To me it looked like it was just there and nothing was leaking but I don't know. There are stacks on it and it comes with an edge programmer. They are asking 7800 for it. Is this a fair price for the truck? I'm sure I can talk him down some. Thanks for the help.

Gauges are a must if you are going to bomb or do anything other than driving ms daisy. They keep you from busting a boot, melting a piston or tyranny and starving a IP. And they are very accurate pieces of equipment so it comes with a price.
As for tires thats not my cup of tea the price is a bit high. just remember the car fax

I did carfax it and it came back clean only 2 owners. I figured I'd offer him 6800 for it first and find out where to go from there.

Price is about right for a low miled 97....

Those tires will probably not fit on a stock 250... You will need a little bit of a lift and a shimmed bumper...

Gauges are important for keeping an eye on Exhaust gas temps which if pushed hard past 1250* for extended periods of time will burn up your motor... They are a relatively inexpensive asset protection system...

When I looked up the kbb it seemed like it war farely priced only like 200 bucks high i thought.
