when i was in field svc workin on Case Equipment, which uses a Cummins in almost all of their equipment, we had 2 svc trucks at the dealer...mine was an f650 with a c7(7.2l inline 6) kitty Cat and the other was an f750 with a 5.9 Cummins......everthing else was identical...trucks were set up the exact same...same welder, crane, air compressor, and tool body......the kitty Cat got its ass handed to it several times by the Cummins...yea i know it aint a powerstroke debate in this case.but Cat first rintroduced the HEUI fuel system in 1993, and international started using it in 94 on the powerstrokes

I like the 5.9 cummins better than the 6.0 PSD, But The FORD truck is built stronger & looks better:tu:

they are sharp lookin, but im partial to the cummins...i bout the engine, the truck came free...lol

Thanks for all of the quick replies. Pretty much echos what I've read about these two trucks. Love the fact that the Ram has the manual tranny, but I definitely like the looks of the Ford better. And that long bed would come in handy... And I know my friend took good care of his truck.

"no emissions on the 5.9 cummins, ford started puttin the emission controls on the 6.0s."

Does that mean the Cummins has no emission control or no emissions because the control it does have is so good?

No emissions on a cummins except for a cat

My 06 has about 50xxx miles and I have already replace damn near the entire front end and a surpintine belt other than that iv had no issues, I change the oil and fuel filters on time and had my transmission flushed and serviced.

My friend owns an 06F20 with about 70XXX miles on the truck and have already changed 4 injectors and his egr valve.

Both truck needs to be maintained and both trucks have its strenghts and weakness.

i do not own a 6.0 but maybe one of our 6.0 guys or scott might know for sure but i believe all emissions stuff can be "deleted" on a 6.0 which of course does come at a cost but remember your buying a truck not an engine.

basically take a look at both engines and see which one you would rather work on. where i work has 10 f550's with 6.0's in them and EVERY one of them has been to the dealer for head gasket issues. they arent reliable at all. the one truck has had 5 complete sets of injectors in it and it just now turned over 100K. take a look at the belts on a cummins then look at the 6.0 its a damn joke for somethin as easy as changin a belt turns into a 3hour job. the only thing i like about a 6.0 is the oil filter is simple as hell to change but thats as far as it goes. just my .02 from working on them.
