curious about my new truck

i keep reading a lot about people wanting power adders right off the bat. getting there chip and intake and exhaust set up before they even own the truck. on the up side of that you get your power and smoke and fun but, i never see anything about bomb proofing your tranny and drivetrain before all that. why is that? is it the "dont fix what aint broke" theory? this might just be me but i would rather know nothing is going to happen when i put my foot in it rather than "oh crap there went my tranny" does anyone agree with me? is it more expensive to upgrade your drive train compared to your motor first?

most transmissions can take about 100hp over stock without modifications which is what 70% people need or want. they get a small tune intake and exhaust. but to rebuild a tranny with stronger parts is usually starting at $3000. tune, intake, and exhaust is close to $1000. a lot more fun to go a little faster and not hurt anything then to prepare your truck for lots of power but then not have any cash left to make it go fast.

i agree with that. my point is the guys that set aside money on top of buying thier trucks just to mod them. if you have the money set aside why not plan early? like a 401k lol

because the people that do usually know what they want and are knowledeable in this area so they dont ask questions so you dont hear about them. or they just cant flat out afford it at the time. but also some trannys are pretty robust. the trannys that come with 6.4 fords can hold 600hp with no mods and it can hold it as long as you dont severly abuse the truck. my trucks transmission will hold all the power my engine could produce with any off the shelf parts so i dont need to spend a dime on mine. only tradeoff is my truck is slow:argh:

My 1999 7.3 F-250 had 0 modifications, Now my 2008 6.4 F-250 WILL NOT get any mods until the 5 years/ 100,000 miles W A R R A N T Y is over:tu:

lol i hear ya. warrenty is sweet but the only problem is the tattle tail box. you can still lose your warrenty if you do certain things like my father in law is a deisle mechanic at the ford dealer ship he said that a guy came in and was having problems. so he checked it out and he was doing over 90 for 30 miles and so the truck shut him down. voided his warrenty i guess for breakign parts out side of how they want you to run the truck. there might have been more to the story but cant you still lose your warrenty even if you have not modded the truck?
