I need a sequence of things to check...

I've got a '95 Chev Z-71 4x4 that I bought "as is where is"!

Previous owner had hard start issues and had new PMD and lift pump installed. He said the truck started and ran after that, but a few weeks later he was in town, engine seemed to run out of fuel and quit, he couldn't get it going, had it towed. He gave up. PO seemed to treat the truck OK, used fuel additive (he left the remainder in the truck), kept it clean, used Rotella oil, changed it regularly, "hated to see the 'ole girl go". Truck shows 226,000 miles. Supposedly the engine was changed out like 40,000 ago, but there's no paper evidence.

The truck has set for the last 8 weeks. With cold weather here in the Kansas City area they didn't even try to start it. Engine turns over (but I didn't try to start it), oil looks OK, batteries look dirty, connections look like they've been replaced recently, cables look replaced... When I hauled it home I did notice a few (appeared to be) oil drips on the trailer from just setting-- nor running at all.

Do you guys have a punch list I can start through to see if I need another engine or just a hand full of parts! Thanks a bunch.
