KDP Question ?

Hello to all,

I have been reading here on the forum for a few days, great site. Question, has anybody out there ever seen the KDP actually protrude through the cover and come to the outside? It appears on mine that the kdp was caught by the gear teethe and shot through the cover like a bullet. Any feed back will be appreciated.

thanks Mule

I've seen it quite a few times. Last case we changes it chewed everything up pretty nice like!

Fairly common occurrance with these trucks - sounds like you got lucky - could have been worse.

Welcome :c: Sorry to hear you got bit by the infamous Cummins Killer Dowel Pin

I have no way to post pictures. it looks like a perfect hole when it appears to have came throught the cover, the housing is not cracked, just a hole through cover. i changed oil and there are no signs of any metal in oil or oil pan. What happens if I just JB weld the hole and keep running it. I can't say for sure what happened, just what appears to be. I have not seen pin but again it looks like it came all the way through the cover. Ideas?

Mule:humm:

Heres the problem. The pin prevents the timing case from walking.

Anyone know if he has to replace the pin?

I was told the pin was to line up the cover on the assemly line. Then the bolts were to hold the gear case on.I would get or fine a cover, from cummins or a wreaked truck,e-bay.:humm:

buy the KDP kit or get the stuff from cummins, put the pin back in and tab it so it doesnt fall out again. Just buy a new cover, you can usually find a used one for $20-$50
