egr

i own an 07.5 megacab..this is my 1st diesel...i read on other forums the pros and cons of unplugging / deleting the egr ...my truck is stock except for a cai and gauges(pyro, boost and tranny temp). any input as to pro's /con's of doing this would be greatly appreciated....i'm primarily looking for better fuel economy as well as prolonging life of my engine....i should mention i've owned this truck for a little over 2 years with really no major issues...i love the power and drivabilty but mpg's suck...i' m also toying with the idea of dpf delete(code free) but am concerned about emmision testing at registration...any input on that subject also would be greatly appreciated....

I have little expierence with EGRs (parents 6.0 PSDs) but on my dads the EGR delete woke the truck up especially when he turned his Edge up to race. His MPG also went up some. If you do it though, be prepared to lose the warranty. As for a DPF delete, I know a couple Ford guys who have done it and they're getting about 16 MPG which is almost double what they were getting once the got rid of the DPF and EGR. If your concerned about emission testing just put the DPF back on and once your get it taken care of, just yank it again...
