Best for 600hp
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to buy a new diesel in hopes of building a reliable daily driver that is capable of racing occasionally. I have hopes for around 600 rwhp and would like to hear some opinions on which platform will be able to easily reach this goal. I know a 6.4 can do great things with only a few mods but I am looking more at duramax and cummins. I like the LBZ and LMM and both the 5.9 and 6.7. Of these four which one will most reliably be able to run 600 hp. And what is a ballpark price? Thanks for any help. |
Dont overlook the trans. The stock trans will only hold that many ponies just so long. That will certainly add to the cost of your 600 hp project.

For 600 will I need a trans build or will something like transgo jr. be enough?

When considering the money and parts to actually get the the 600 mark what is the best route? Will one truck be able to get there easier or are they all about the same?

Well, not because im partial to Cummins, but Cummins does have less moving parts to deal with and theyre torque monsters to begin with. They make a butt-load of torque down in the lower RPMs. D-max and PSD make their torque in the higher RPMs. Cummins engines are way easier to work on and easier accessed as well. Duramax and powerstroke engines are a bit hard to see when you pop the hood. Its just plain crowded in there. If you have a particular preference, then go for it. Just remember if youre trying for the 600 mark, dont go on the cheap, as you'll regret that for sure. Get good quality parts and you will be rewarded with lots of tire smoke.
