So...I want a Diesel

I've been reading and reading on here and other diesel forums and sites. For my next truck, I want a diesel.
I've been looking for a chart or database that had what years of what makes had what problems with negative results.
Is there such an animal?
Secondly, I don't NEED a diesel... just want one. For better MPGs, for HP/Torque, longevity etc etc. I don't need a 2500 and have always wanted a 1500 with a diesel. Well I've got 2 options right now. The 1500 Ram with the 3.5 VMMotori and of course the 2015 Nissan Titan with the Cummins!!! I've got to say I'm VERY interested in the Nissan Cummins combo.

My friend let me drive his 05 Duramax that had EFI LIVE. I drove it on a 100HP over stock setting and was absolutely amazed. That sucker was a rocket. He has since sold it and got a 08 F250 6.4.

I'm slightly partial to Dmaxes as I hear and read they have fewer problems. Body wise...I absolutely love the F250s. I do NOT want a 6.0 though. And then Dodge has Cummins going for it.

Teach me and point me in the right direction to make informed decisions.

Anyone on here have the 1500 Ram Diesel??

Oh man, You are gonna get mixed results. I will say Dmax cause I have one. I stay on top of mx so I dont have major issues. Try and get an LBZ 06-07 if you go that way. It does not have the injector issues like the early LB7 and it does not have a bunch of the EPA junk like the newer ones. Everyone will give you a different reason why this or that....but I think the mechanic up in NJ said it best when I had my titan tank installed when I asked him if he works on Dmax's a lot....He said no, they don't break that often.

To each his own...diesel is fun no matter which way you go, good luck.

Hey Dirty, you're asking my questions too. I'm looking into buying a diesel and would love to find out how to research what year/model had what common issues. I'm not computer savi enough or I'm entering the wrong search words, but I can't find anywhere that lists that kind of info. Good luck and I'll be watching your post closely for any answers.:tu:

Here's the best "compilation" i could find so far. They don't mention any of the trending problems with the Powerstroke 6.7 though. http://leftcoastdiesel.com/wordpress/?page_id=62

My first few diesels were all 12 valve cummins first was a 93 then my 96 and a 97. Then i graduated to a decent 01 24 valve (rip) and ivr had powerstrokes ever since. You wont have any problems with any of them if you maintain them right and dont run the crap out of them all the time

Due to my 7.3L powerstroke experiences, I will never buy an electronic diesel again. Defeats the purpose of the diesel's reliability IMO.
