looking to buy first diesel but are newer models worth the money

i have been a chevy gas burner person but i'm looking to get a diesel as soon as the bank gives me the go-ahead and i hear so much bad stuff about all of em: fords everything.dodges everything and chevy everthing wrong with em lol not minor stuff like crank seals in ford leaking along with turbos, radiators. dodge turbos. chevy trans and injectors i will be buying a used truck so warranty may not be there so i'm scared ill be stuck with the bill plus i work in plants and swaping over to pipeline welder so a down truck could cost me 10-100k in job loss. with that being said if it has a warranty i hear the dpf and egr are causing most plroblems but if i delete that then i'll void warranty and if a trans or a ''bad fuel'' comes up thats 3-5k!! i like the 08 ford bodystyle. the extra power of 6.7 cummins and hear the auto trans are much better. am a chevy fan but dont like the independent front end and sensitive alison trans which truck shoud i buy? it will be modified with intake exhaust and tuner within the first year if there is no warranty so take that into considereation i hear the allison cant take over 80hp over stock. and i will delete the dpf and egr soon also so that problem will be rulled out if it was the only reason to not get a truck
