Tellico Closed

The Summary is:

1. A one-year closure of Lower Trail 2 (from the intersection with Road 420 west to Road 402), Trail 7, a portion of Trail 8 (from the intersection with Trail 9 to the intersection with Trail 10A), and Trail 9 in the Upper Tellico OHV area which prohibits operating motor vehicles on these trails during the closure period and sets penalties for violating the provisions of this Order.

2. A seasonal closure of the Upper Tellico OHV Area which prohibits operating motor vehicles on trails within the Area during the period between January 1 and March 31 each year and sets penalties for violating the provisions of this Order.

SFWDA in cooperation with UFWDA and BlueRibbon is evaluating these orders and will be responding accordingly.

Holy crap they closed down another section of Pismo and Glamis!

There is fewer and fewer places to go! When will it end?

long story. Trout Unlimited is aledging that the ORV area is polluting the Tellico River down stream and ruining their fishing grounds. They have retained a law firm and are threatening suit to "clean up" the area.

SuperDave4x4 12-20-2007 12:24 PM

Hmm that sucks, but I'm a trout fisher and wouldn't want to see the fish being killed off. But then again that sucks MAJOR you know what for the offroad guys and I'm one of them or will be again when ever I can afford another project. I can't see how it's effecting the trout fishing that bad though. What are they saying is ruining the fishing? Oil, gas and other debris in the water????

Carbon Footprint 12-20-2007 12:34 PM

They claim sediment and erosion are doing the damage

Johnny Cetane 12-20-2007 12:40 PM

It sounds like yet another case of land being closed without any significant proof what so ever of any damage being done.

LOGANSTANFORTH 12-28-2007 09:24 AM

its the same thing that happened at the dunes, spider lake, all through kentucky at 3 or 4 parks, and lets not even get started on Pennsylvania......ignorant people that just WANT to cause trouble, they believe any means justifies the end.....but in their defense we get 2 or 3 jerks that want to go "muddin" (friggin worthless whitetrash rednecks) and destroy the places WE actually try to protect.....i always practive tred lightly when we are wheeling, i pick up trash and try to keep people on the trails.......before too long the only place we will have to play is in high priced man made parks......IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
