I built a couple for a customer. I think he's getting bitten hard. who knows what's next. he has a 56 404 gasser and a 70's 416 diesel non turbo.

I got realllll nasty on the 404.

I don't have any good or finished pics of the 404 on this computer and don't think I took any pics of the 416.

The 404 got full hydro steer... some springs swaps... made it a 4 door w/ suicide doors and built a box.. cage blah blah blah... took foooooorrrrrrever. it's the party crawler now :) lost my @$$ on that job:igive:

what is the cheepest roughly a guy could find a 4 door 406 thats needs tlc for any idea?

Unimogs are one of the best vehicles ever built! I love them and have even been to the factory in Germany where Mercedes makes them! It's too bad there aren't more of them in the US. Here are pictures of the two in the Mercedes Corporate Museum in Germany, and some other fun things from the factory and museum.

It was developed as a pure military tool.

We have them as the 1300L(130hp) with 8 forward and 4 backward gears. It has a front and rear locker stock.
With chains equipped the Mog is unstoppable. But travelling sucks- that thing is loud inside- and you have to rev it all the time.
You can get them for about 12000US-$ kicked out of the military, but the parts are x-pensive.
