I do know that they sand blast before they powder coat. what i don't know is if they got lazy on the prep of if the powder coat itself had something wrong with it. really it's hard to say if they screwed up or if powder was bad or maybe something happened that it didn't get baked long enough. i know that i don't really what to take a chance of it happening to me.

Nice work.....maybe Deer proof, but Elk......no way.

The welds are as strong as their gonna get, structural areas were pre-heated with a torch, and tripple passed .
I havn't hit an elk yet, will have to wait for that. hold up to a Tacoma pulling out in front of me in an intersection though....:ouch: |
thats a sick looking bumper man, i like how open you have the ends, makes the truck looker meaner from the front, i just need to get mine finished now and get some pics up, im almost done and then i go and bust my rear pinion in half and now i got a whole other project on my hands

Very nice. Good job. I got a deer right after I got the truck. Bout $5,000 worth of damage. Sucks cause I had a 96 ram 1500 with a brush guard and always wanted to hit something with it.

Great pics! I didn't know expanded metal could look that good! I admire the welded on tie down hooks. Did you decide not to do the front winch mount? BTW, where did you get that grille badge with cummins C in it?

Nice bumpers! The one with the spikes looks cool, but yeah,I could see stabbing myself during routine maintainance. Maybe make them out of a plastic overlay or something to reduce the liability. I'm still running the stock bumper with a cheap clamp-on grill guard that was on it when I bought the truck. The clamp bolts were loose and seized on the nuts, letting the guard rattle around on the front of the bumper. Welded that solid, then added a couple bars made from old semi tierods to reinforce the lower portion. Knock on wood, haven't tested it yet, don't plan it anytime soon.
