Help my truck!

cant seem 2 find just the bearings for my 98 ram 2500. 4x4 every place i called said they only sell the whole hud. any help would be awsome

Hence the price quote thread. Did you get a number off the bearing or race??

skyjacked84 07-20-2009 11:40 PM

no, i didnt know they had numbers on them. after i pressed out the wheel studs the hub fell off the press an broke the plastic ring that held the rollers in.

wildbill 07-20-2009 11:43 PM

This the front or rear hub your working on??

skyjacked84 07-20-2009 11:56 PM

front, i broke bearing on the press, and might as well do the other while its apart. then went 2 do the other side an striped the nut an the stub axle. so i already bought the stub axle and just now gota find the bearings.

you cant just get the bearings. dont ask me why but you HAVE to get the whole hub. thats just the way it is. this is the reason why i got the lockout conversion kit didnt think it was right to have none sevicable bearings that cost an arm and a leg.

non servicable? BS then how come i got mine apart?

Budgreen 07-28-2009 04:02 PM

Because yours were shot!

Your lucky it didnt fall apart on the road. Dodge switched to "unit bearings" in '94, because its a cheaper manufacturing alternative. They are non-servicable, non-joe schmo rebuildable, and JUNK! Sorry boss, your into it for at least 150 perside. You can get a conversion kit, but then ya gotta lock in the hubs like the old trucks when ya go 4 wheelin. And it aint cheep to get the kit either. I forgot who makes it now, but ask 12valvetater he's got the kit on his truck.

Came apart because it was worn out and you broke it. Sealed, non-serviceable unit hub. Anything will come apart if you drop it or hammer it enough.
