Had a bunch of similar rigs go through here a few years back. the guys had come over from iceland, they were out cruising around the arctic and detoured through yellowknife!

That's the Arctic Trail Group... :)
They're well known, do you know if they had any power adders on those trucks ? ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- here's another vid of a GMC Suburban with a 6.6 Duramax installed :) |
Not sure what exactly was done on them (IIRC they used to have complete build details on their website which is in the pics!)
We had seen them around town for a few days and actually caught up to them a little ways down the highway when we were going out out of town for sled races. Didnt have much time to stop and chat as we were running late so it was pretty much just a 'hi, bye' thing |
ok, i haven't looked on their site till' now :)
didn't find the specs on the trucks but i found some pictures from the ride from Yellowknife. looks like it was a cold trip: http://www.arctictrails.is/photos/20...5200064000.jpg |
It does get a little cold! down around -50c before any windchill sometimes!
Havent looked at their website in a few years myself, guess they changed it because they used to have the full truck buildup posted. P-50 arctic grade diesel is a must at some points during the winter :D |
Wow, i thought we had cold stuff in our glaciers.... we get down to around -40°c before windchill...
i bet the extra -10°c is crazy... -50°c wow... |
sucks when you get a 60km/h+ wind ontop of that, then its really F'n cold!
Gotta love it when you cant even go outdoors because any slightest bit of exposed skin will freeze almost instantly. Usually doesnt get quite that bad right here in yellowknife, but a little farther north up at the mines its not uncommon! |
60km/h wind, how windy is that in meters / second ?
we get all the way to 35 meters / second... snowstorms here... ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- google helped me out.... 60km/h is around 16m/s 35 m/s = 126 km/h the air here is also i beleive more moist.. and it's also very unpredictable, cause we have seas all around.. wind can turn directions in just few minutes... |
I love the Janis Joplin in the beginning of the first video :5:
