Simply put they've been around for 100 or so years and aren't going anywhere. For the others to say hey look we'll pay your loan for you, adding interest and penalty payments no doubt you can still drive this crap you signed for the next 60 months.

Yeah, I know it sounds arrogant benz's part but if you own one like I do you'll start to understand why. Ok, that sounds a bit much too but I think you know what I mean.

in my opinion if you are not sure if you can pay your car loan you shouldnt be looking at mercedes benzs or any new car for that matter. where i come from the wealthy and well off people drive around new benzs not a middle class guy with a job that might not be there in a few months. if you need a new car buy a cheap used car that is a few years old. its all about the image i guess

In my case it isn't about image. I'm a hard working middle class guy who enjoys comfort and has a wife with a bad back. Since we are a diesel family and the choice is limited we went to the R class. Not everyone can afford that and not everyone has the conditions I have to meet either.

Woody35 07-28-2009 07:42 PM

I wasnt talking about you im talking about the people who buy Benzs that cant afford it. nothing wrong with buying a mercedes benz if you can afford it. im sure there nice cars and a nice car with a diesel is a plus for me in my book. i guess i made a bad example of a middle class guy. to tell you the truth i dont get the point of the article.

why would anyone care about mercedes benzs not advertising about payment protection plans and stuff like that. imho if you own a benz the economy is not going to effect you as much as a factory worker or something like that. and if it does and i owned a recently bought benz thats the first thing being sold to help me and my family through the hard times.

Woody,
I see you point and for the record there's no offence. I just think, like I said before that if "you" think that buying a new car that has this job loss protection BS is worth it than its like selling ice to an eskimo - they don't exactly need it.

I look at all the tricks this industry plays on average Joe and it is so scary. They advertize payments super low only to find out that it is like 96 months or that they are weekly payments or some other sort of crap and the cows just keep lining up.

It is really scary to think that if someone was that hard up trying to keep their house, their job adn such that they would even consider buying a new car, did the last 18 months not teach them anything?

You can not live beyond your means and you must even then be able to liquidate your assests if you need to.
