What have ya got now for tuning?

Jagsdiesel 10-23-2010 08:39 AM

A built trans first off. Twin turbo kit to go behind your stocker. EFI Live or H&S tunning.
A set of 50% over injectors and keep the pulse width down and save the engine.
And lift pump is a must.

You should...ummm....trade for a ppe standard!

I agree built trans would be a start with that tuning. Turbo upgrade cuz Egts get unreal at anything above level 3, maybe EFI tuning. Lots of choices, depending on how deep your pockets are..

Dmax2008 10-25-2010 09:05 AM

Thanks for the info what kind of turbo do you recomend, and should i get twins?

Jagsdiesel 10-25-2010 11:49 AM

For a great everyday driver/ tow rig/ weekend warrior go with twins and be done with it.
A II or MPI turbo kit that uses stock turbo will be more than fine.

Seth999 10-25-2010 11:56 AM

well depending on what you want EFI, lift pump, tranny, n exhaust can run you to around almost 550hp before the stock turbo gets out of map

BLACKDX 10-26-2010 09:57 PM

I have heard that Danville Turbos are awesome. Im in the Twin camp as just installed II ..

haha this guy lol

tranny upgrade, lift pump, and custom EFI live tuning to start with. that should get you close to 600HP and in the 12s in the quarter.

after that its all guessing for me, but I'm going to say either a twin setup using the factory turbo a single like turbo like a cheetah, upgraded/dual CP3's, and injectors

im interested in the same as the starter of this thread i just need input on which fuel pump is recommended, ats manifold??, what little things would be needed?

it all depends on what your looking to do with the truck, what are your goals?

I stay away from anything ATS

Airdog 2 or Fass, whatever you like the best

LMMDMAX56 06-16-2011 12:22 AM

Okay well im wanting to build a streetable 11/12 second duramax or consider going to cummins(being they are much easier to work on) and if i may ask y stay away from ats?

BriteWhiteRam 06-16-2011 09:48 AM

Just the reputation that ATS have given themselves, really just rubs me the wrong way

for a high 12 second truck you could get away with

-built trans
-ppe hot +2 or EFI live
-Lift pump
-intake
-Exhaust
-front end upgrades

Add compound turbo chargers(using the stock turbo), twin CP3's and you could get low 12's

to get into the 11's you're gona need new pistons, rods, head studs, injectors, and maybe a bigger set of turbos, and your trans will have to be built to the nuts:pca1:

LMMDMAX56 06-16-2011 10:30 AM

okay thanks that gives me a pretty good idea on what i need to do

Dmax2008 06-29-2012 10:13 PM

Thanks for all the input on this thread. I recently installed a Airdog 2 150gph lift pump and am running my PPE hot +2 but I've been throwing my fule rail pressure dtc.... Any suggestions???:argh: also concede ring upgrading the head studs is it worth it?

BriteWhiteRam 06-29-2012 11:50 PM

as far as the rail pressure code you can get the fuel rail shim kit to allow the rail to hold pressure longer

and head studs are only worth it if you plan on making lots of boost(more than the stock turbo is capable of) :tu:
