LBZ CP3 on LB7
This may not be considered aftermarket but it'll get move if need be so feel free mods to put this thread where it belongs lol. I ran across a steal if I can get it on a LBZ CP3 out of a 2006 duramax that was in a accident the engine looks to be in great shape but I have some Q's as to what I need to do on swaping the LBZ CP3 into my LB7. If the engine has set up for a while should i be weary about the CP3 being dry? Also I know I can use the existing FPR on the LB7 with some minor adjusting via EFI Live. What all is involved in the install what all do I need to remove to make it a smooth install so I don't run into headaches while doing the install. Thanks in advance!
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Com'on guys I know there are views cause I checked them but no one's posting anything any help will be greatly appreciated guys! |
use the lbz fpr, you will like it better. and u cant tune it with eif live to make it work.
the swap is ok, just a bunch of stuff in the way, i can walk you through it if you need me to. |
Ok I appreciate the help. Will the LBZ reg and pump make the throttle less touchy or will it become more touchy? I know most of that deals with the tuning but I like the quick response the truck has now just would like to know what kinda effect the new pump and FPR will have on driveabilty? Again thanks buddy for your reply

ac compressor, altinator, power steering pump, and both brackets that hold all of those on, coolant crossover tuber and thermostat housing.
all the fuel lines on top of the engine, wire harness, turbo cast intake. and you should be able to roll the cp3 out |

use a 27mm socket on a impact for the nut and a puller. i think its 27 iirc or 26:humm:
step by step it goes... Ac compressor and lay it over by the passenger battery (4x15mm bolts) Alternator (2x15mm bolts) Fan clutch power steering pump and lay it to the side (5x15mm bolts) Thermostat Housing (4x12mm bolts) Both brackets for alt and ac comp, ~8 14mm bolts short and long ones, and there are a few hidden bolts on the passenger side down low on the bracket. coolant cross over tube, 4x12mm on each side and 2 on the bottom. Turbo intake horn 3x10mm bolts wire harness (just enough to get it to stand up out of the way of the valley) all the fuel lines out of the balley 19mm and 12mm stuff and a 7mm randomly in the back of the driver side. the dark dark green lines are fuel return lines you can re use those seals cause you will have to unbolt them to get the cp3 out of the valley. and there are four bolts holding the cp3 on to the block. and three holding the cp3 to a mounting plate |
If I buy a LBZ pump straight from GM will it bolt right up, or does something have to be changed. Kinda weird the LBZ cost $645 and the LB7 cost $835.

Great YouTube videos that will help.
I personally had to have some help from YouTube pulling my cp3 pump out. There’s a bunch of YouTube videos that’ll help.
