Not Really shore on what to do, (straight pipe)Cheap way out isnt always the best way, Dont want to be harsh on the engine, What should I go with?

I've had the Banks exhaust with muffleron my truckand it sounded real good, mean but not loud. I took the muffler off and now it is straight piped I didn't see a hole lot of difference power wise but the sound is very obnoxious. Inside the cab it is noticeable enough to have to have the windows up if you want to have a decent conversation.

Its all in a matter of each persons Opinion. I pull a 5th wheel camper and have a 4" straightpipe to 6" mitre cut stack and I love the way mine sounds..
:yeah:

If Its too loud, then Your too old in my book.. The duramax's have a VERY distinctive sound when straightpiped..:U:

Mine has 4inch straight pipe. It is preety quiet idleing and going easy on it. But when I get on it it screams! It's pretty cool. I coulld tell a difference in power after straight pipeing it.

Most quality exhaust systems have a straight through muffler so performance wise there is no difference between running a muffler or straight pipe. You will have more noise with a straight pipe inside and outside. I like a muffler so you can still enjoy the tunes and talk to your friends, but you still get a better sound outside the truck. The Banks mufflers are the largest and the quietest. Silverline, MBRP, and others use a smaller muffler which give the truck more noise outside.
